"Be quiet," he said, "and you aim well! You are going to kill a man! "

Thus you said to the murderer, one of them, when he trembling came rifle in hand ... that courage Ernesto, even in death you conquered, what firmness, what convictions ... and thus entered history, as one of the most infamous days, October 9, 1967.

Che Guevara was as great in life as he was at the time of death, it is the same Mario Terán (Bolivian sergeant who killed Che) who says: "... That was the worst moment of my life. When I arrived, Che was sitting on a bench. When he saw me he said: "You have come to kill me."

I felt self-conscious and lowered my head without answering. Then I asked me, "What did the others say?" I replied that they had not said anything and he replied: "They were brave!" I did not dare to shoot. At that moment I saw Che big, very big, and huge.

His eyes were bright. I felt like she was falling on me and when she stared at me, I felt dizzy. I thought that with a quick move, Che could take the gun off me. "Be calm," he said, "and take a good aim! You are going to kill a man! “Then I stepped back, toward the doorway, closed my eyes and shot the first burst. Che, with broken legs, fell to the ground, writhing and began to bleed a lot. I regained my spirits and fired the second blast, which struck him on one arm, shoulder, and heart. He was already dead. "

Thus the last moments of the life of Ernesto Guevara de la Serna, one of the most important revolutionary paradigms of the twentieth and twenty-first passed. Ernesto Guevara died faithful to his ideals, faithful to his example and remained brave, energetic and unshakable until his last breath of life.

Che had been arrested a day earlier, on 8, with his 17 men caught in the fight of Quebrada del Yuro, Guevara was shot and wounded in his left leg, his rifle was left without bullets, and was taken prisoner along with Simeon Cuba "Willy" his name in the guerrilla, and transferred to La Higuera where they were held in school, in separate classrooms.

Where they placed the "Heroic Guerrilla" also some of his comrades, were already dead, and would also be held there the next day without life, Juan Pablo Chang. Among the belongings sequestered by the military was the diary that Che was carrying in Bolivia.

Bolivian captain Gary Prado, now ex general, was the operative that captured Che and at the beginning told him that he would be taken to Santa Cruz for a military trial, something that would never happen.

The Central Intelligence Agency had direct contacts with the Bolivian government and several field agents in the persecution of Che, until the Higuera arrived Feliz Rodríguez Mendigutía, pitifully a Cuban, and it was he who in direct communication with General René Barrientos, Bolivian dictator , and the CIA, gave the order to execute Che.

On October 9, the Bolivian government announced that Ernesto Guevara had died in combat the day before. It was a big lie that gave them time to decide what to do with Che and study the reaction to the news.

It was one o'clock, CIA agent Félix Rodríguez already ordered by President Barrientos to execute Che Guevara, and counting with the approval of the United States government, everything prepared for the murder.

Félix Rodríguez was ordered to shoot Guevara and transmitted it to Bolivian officials, he was the first to inform Che Guevara that he would be shot, but before he was removed from the classroom and interrogated and took several photos, the last ones alive of Che. The brutal assassins wanted to exhibit with their trophy.

With a cynicism, Félix Rodríguez said: "I went to Sergeant Teran who knew that I was being the executor of all that. I told him, Sergeant, there are instructions from your government to eliminate the prisoner. I put my hand on the chin. Do not pull him up here; throw him down here because this man is supposed to have died of wounds in combat ...”

So at one and ten in the afternoon, Sergeant Mario Terán entered the Higuera classroom, trembling and with some rum drinks in which he sought the courage to assassinate Che.

And he met that giant, huge at the time of death, that Che Guevara that 50 years after his murder continues more alive than ever, being an example and guide for the peoples of the world. Today Che lives and will live while will be a person who fights against injustice, and defends the oppressed. World-wide paradigm is next to us and we will continue with him Hasta la Victoria Siempre.
