Jaruco, Mayabeque. In the same way that the grass is green in spring, the eyes of the poetess of Jaruco, Encarnación de Armas Medina, were lit up while enjoying the literary program of the Book Fair of Mayabeque, which began this March 20 in San José de las Lajas.

Carlos García Guridi writer and promotional specialist of the Provincial Directorate of Culture called the Illustrious Daughter of the County City, lady of letters when he offered her welcome to this literature festival

With her blonde hair, carmine on her lips and the smile that always distinguishes her, she shared the first day of the Fair with the presentation of the book, La Nacion Insurrecta by Oscar Loyola, along with other writers from Mayabeque, such as Omar Felipe Mauri.

She, with her more than 8 decades of life, feels like a fish in the water in this type of meeting where she renews her enthusiasm by surrounding herself with so many creators and the people who still bless, welcome and disseminate the art of print.

Encarnación is the pride of Jaruco and she is the only woman in Cuba who holds the Cucalambé Prize for poetry, a detail that is often remembered at times like this, although most of us do not know that our artist continues to make honey and flowers to the rhythm of a constant battle with her old typewriter.
