Jaruco, Mayabeque. On the occasion of the World Breastfeeding Week, the Maternal Home of Jaruco was the scene this Monday of a demonstrative activity with pregnant and postpartum women on how to breastfeed babies.
The meeting insisted on the benefits of starting this feeding from the first hours of the newborn, while explaining how the mother should sit and manipulate the baby to help him suck.
The specialists of the Mother and Child Program (PAMI) recalled that exclusive breast milk is a living fluid that adapts to the nutritional and immunological requirements of the child as it grows and develops.
Similar activities are carried out in clinics and polyclinics of the municipality to sensitize families of the multiple advantages of exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of life, and from that moment a balanced diet will be introduced.
