Mayabeque and its contributions to human health have a place in the II Pan-American Congress of Physiological Sciences, which takes place from the 27th to May 31st at the Havana Convention Center.
Six specialists from the province participated in the event, including Dr. Yudit Cabrera González, member of the organizing committee and Head of the Department of Physiology, created in December 2018 at the Leopoldito Martínez Hospital in San José las lajas.
The Second Degree Physiology Specialist shares with experts from some thirty nations, the advances accumulated in the functional study of diabetic patients, thanks to the human resources and technology of this Department.
The success in the application of cell therapy to reduce the risks of amputation and other sequela of this disease is also included in the presentation of this specialist, who also aspires to a Doctorate in Poly neuropathy in the elderly.
In less than two years in the Department of Physiology of Mayabeque, more than ten thousand studies were carried out, at no cost, to about two thousand patients from this and other territories in the western part of the country.
The experience of the province in Physiology undoubtedly highlights the prestige of the Cuban Society of Basic Sciences, which is the first time the host in a meeting that consolidates the unity among the physiologists of the continent.
At the same time, it strengthens the exchange and broadens the agreements of academic and other collaboration that began to deepen in the I Pan-American Congress held in Iguazú, Brazil, in 2014.
